The Red Frog craze has hit Canada! In the fall of 2009 the Red Frog chaplaincy
network was launched at Brock University, Ontario. The program originated in
Australia and got its name from the now worldwide famous piece of candy, a red
frog (pictured on right).
The Red Frogs support network is a program
with a heartbeat of serving young people and assisting them through some of the
most important years of their lives. On various nights you can find the crew
running hydrations stations in uni pubs, taking students on café crawls and
hosting other great non-alcoholic events. For more information on what we do see
the "info for students" page.
The program also exists to educate and empower
university students in making responsible decisions. We achieve this by positive
role modelling through our volunteers and the symbol is now a world wide
connection between young people and a safe and supportive environment. By
providing event support on campus, Red Frogs is seeking to positively transform
the university experience for this generation.
History
Red Frogs is an internationally recognized schoolies and universities support
network which has been operating for over 12 years. Since our induction
into schoolies on the Gold Coast in 1997, the Red Frog Crew have given out
tonnes of Allen’s Frogs Alive Red Frogs every year as our ice-breaker at 17
schoolies and leavers festivals around Australia, as well as at university
O-week celebrations and events.
The Red Frog Crew is most well-known for its service at schoolies and leavers
festivals, where over 1200 volunteers aim to support school-leavers through
their week-long celebrations, providing a positive presence within their party
culture. The Red Frog Crew assist school-leavers by walking young people
home, cooking pancakes, cleaning rooms, handing out Allen’s Red Frogs and most
importantly, offering emotional support through what can often be a challenging
week.
Red Frogs also provide some of the best entertainment at schoolies week, running
Red Frog stages at Gold Coast and Airlie Beach locations. Schoolies love
the Red Frogs!
